Myrrdin raised his head and gazed around the docking bay as the dedications came to an end. The time for contemplation was over, the time for action begun. He needed this stillness though; to go into battle without absolute purity of purpose would be akin to a betrayal of all he stood for.
Within minutes, the boarding procedure was complete, and the TES Merrow, an Arbitrator class cruiser named for a mythical sea creature, spun free from the Sarum family station, Sharhelund system. A quick scan of local space showed his squadron already waiting. Udyr Vulpayne, John Martin and Vlad Konstantinov piloted another three Arbitrators, with scouting duties falling to Lallara Zhuul and Octavinius Augustus, flying a Crusader and Punisher respectively.
After a momentary systems check, he gave the order to enter warp, and the raid had begun. The Bleak Lands proved free of terrorist scum, however within a few minutes of entering Heimatar, a small fleet of ships belonging to the Murientor tribe was detected in Amamake. Scouts were dispatched, and the heathens were located at an asteroid belt. It appeared however, that the enemy had recently suffered losses at the hands of local pirates, and scattered almost immediately upon being engaged. Myrrdin arrived at the scene to see a rupture enter warp, gases and debris spilling from its exposed structure.
Rens proved to be empty of targets, so the squadron began the journey down to the Ushra’Khan stronghold of Nakah. Within a single jump however, eight enemies were detected in the Odatrik system, and their location quickly discovered as a small rogue drone complex, which would be impossible for the arbitrators to enter. The tension began to mount, and in the hope of luring the enemy into an engagement, the fleet jumped to the Jark system in Derelik, leaving a scout behind. As the fleet waited on the Jark side of the gate, the transmission quickly came through – the enemy was mobilising, and had assembled on the opposite side in Odatrik.
Believing fully in the superiority of their ships and pilots, the Amarrians were eager to engage. After a short period of deliberation, the order was given to jump back through to Odatrik. At this moment however, the gate flared into action – the enemy was coming through!
With lightening efficiency, drones were deployed, and as the enemy began to uncloak, they were quickly locked, with the arbitrators attempting to disrupt their targeting and tracking systems, as the frigates sought to lock them down and prevent escape.
The enemy had a few tricks of their own however. A number of loyalist ships, including the TES Merrow, were target jammed, and Myrrdin soon found himself coming under fire, feeling explosions rock the ship as projectiles pounded the thick armour. Repair systems were engaged, and the ship was able to slow the rate of damage, though the armour was still gradually being destroyed.
At this point though, the massed deployment of high-tech loyalist drones began to take its toll on the enemy. A rupture class cruiser piloted by Tavor Jeager went down, and within a minute, another rupture, a catalyst class destroyer, and kestrel and rifter class frigates were also destroyed. The remnants of the enemy fleet turned tail and ran. All Amarrian ships survived – the Lord had certainly heard their Prayers!
