The Battle of Choonka
Warship: TES Royal Soverign
Class: Apocalypse Class Battleship
Commanding: Vice-Admiral Archbishop
Sitting in his command chair Vice-Admiral Archbishop looked down at the bridge crew preparing for the coming battle. Enlisted and officer alike in this time of battle all wore the uniform of Amarr as a warrior of God. All would do their duty to the Empire and defend the chosen way of life.
Earlier in the day Archbishop had led a prayer service at the Royal Cathedral of the Fallen on Amarr itself. The Cathedral sits high atop a mountain and is accessible only by shuttle. Towering above the clouds it looks out over the vast beauty that is Amarr.
Cathedral of the Fallen
The Cathedral is several hundred years old and was dedicated to those who have fallen in service of the Emperor himself. To hold a service at this location is indicative of the loyalty of those present. Only the most faithful servants of the Empire are allowed entrance.
Looking at the officers filling the pews Archbishop watches with pride those who are most worthy. Warriors of PIE Corporation, 1st Praetorian Guard and Imperial Star Guards fill the cathedral until it is almost overflowing. The gold of medals earned and victories won shone on the breasts of the uniform tunics while the banners of the Royal Houses of Amarr and the names in granite of those lost adorned the walls of the sacred chapel.
Rising behind the podium Archbishop raises his hand and the mumuring grows silent. In the front pew senior officers sit attentively, Gaven Lokri the PIE CEO, Fatimah Ardishapur and Staaziprimus of Imperial Star Guards, Tharrn and Gazon of the First Praetorian Guard. Behind them sat the other flag officers of the member corporations and the junior officers. For some it was their first time inside the sacred Cathedral.

"Brothers and Sisters of Amarr..... here my plea!" said Archbishop as he raised his arms above his head.
"Today the terrorists of Matar have grown strong. Today they cross our borders at will and harrass our lawful slave trading citizens. Today they seek to overthrow our very way of life."
Mutters of "heathen" and "beasts" could be heard in the assembled officers.
"But all is not lost!. No today is a new day!. A day of Amarr!."
Suddenly a viewscreen raises from the floor behind Archbishop. On the viewscreen appears the Amarrian EMPEROR house seal surrounded by the seals of the five Royal Houses of Amarr.
"Today we serve God and Empire. We pray He will give us an Emperor worthy of the name Amarr to lead us. Until that time we must be vigilant. We must be assertive. We must seize the moment and take what is rightfully ours!" he raised his hands again and the assembled officers cheered.
"It has been to long since the Golden Fleet of Amarr has been assembled. To long since the skies of Matar filled with our warships and the terrorists hid in terror......... FAR TO LONG!" he said loudly as the assembled rose to their feet.
"Today we travel into history as the Golden Fleet of Amarr once more. Let all remember this day as the day the warriors of Amarr returned to bring the light of God to the heathens of Matar. Let us pray".
All bowed their heads and the cathedral grew silent.
"Dear God of Amarr and all beings give us your guiding light and lead us to victory. Let us know in defeat the humility of service and let us know in victory the humility of victory. Let us be a guiding light that brings the hopes of Minmatar everywhere to the Enlightement. Let the people of Amarr know they are not alone. God grant us these prayers and your protection on this great day of battle. Amen".
A massive AMEN arose from those assembled.
Looking out at the assembled now looking at him Archbishop spoke only a few words..... but words that carried great meaning.
"Amarr expects that each man will do his duty".
With that they were dismissed.
They then filed slowly out.
Far above Amarr several small ships scampered about. Industrial ships and tour ships stopped and looked in awe at the rare sight. A school transport was parked and children could be seen through the portholes staring in wide mouthed awe at the appearance of something only heard of in legend.
Battleships, Battlecruisers, Cruisers, Interceptors, Frigates, over 20 of them in orbit around Amarr. All golden ships of the Amarrian Empire. All bearing the seals of PIE, 1PG and ISGD. All Amarrian only ships manned by Amarrian only crews. All ready to fight for the Empire they served without fail.
Ships begin to leave orbit
Seven massive golden Battleships led the fleet supported by several Battlecruisers and other support ships. Already a scouting fleet was entering enemy space on a recon mission to seek out the terrorists hiding place in the Bleaklands. Reports were already coming in of enemy ships in Kamala.
Now watching the viewscreen move to warp as his Apocalypse flagship sped to warp speed Archbishop looked over battle plans and monitored the combat channels. With a course set to the Bleaklands there would be no doubt of combat today. The Minmatar were in force and had seized the area as a base for their terrorist activities.
Approaching the gate between Amarrian space and the Bleaklands outer areas the fleet continued to recieve reports of enemy vessels. A Tempest, Rupture, and other ships were sighted. Captain Monsignor of PIE chased down a Bestower but was unable to catch it as it warped away. Other scout ships were continually avoiding contact while sending intel back to the fleet.
Meanwhile the fleet approached and prepared to jump.
Fleet prepares to jump into the Bleaklands
Moving slowly from Kamala to Choonka reports continued to come in of a terrorist force massing. Soon several large ships including a Typhoon, Scorpion and Tempest were reported. A scout was caught and killed by terrorists who captured it with a highpowered interceptor of Caldari design. Still the Golden Fleet moved onward and soon entered Choonka.
Local scanners indicated over a dozen UshraKhan terrorists in system. The Amarrian fleet moved to a gate and took up a defensive position. While the fleet commander Commodore Lallara Zhuul (PIE) contemplated the next move the terrorists made it for her.
They warped in.
Scanners light up as terrorists enter area and drones are launched
Combat was fierce as the terrorists used an effective tactic - EW - obviously stolen from the Caldari! Still the battle was not lost. While Archbishop broke a console in anger as his Apocalypse was rendered useless by endless jamming other ships were able to fire. The Minmatar were divided into two distinct groups with a close in force and a long range sniper force.
While most Amarrian ships were jammed it wasn't constant and during the breaks several Minmatar ships fell. Nonetheless the jamming took its toll as a Caldari Scorpion and Caldari Blackbird T2 EW Cruiser sat at long range doing their evil deeds.
Suddenly a flash of light filled the screen. The Armageddon of Admiral Lok'ri exploded under the firepower of the Minmatar. Meanwhile other ships were falling on both sides. A tempest was webbed, scrambled and destroyed as the command of Beinrich was lost to Amarrian holy laser fire.
The Battle Rages for nearly 10 minutes
The battle lasted several minutes as neither side wanted to give ground. While the Minmatar lost several ships the Amarrians were also taking hits and with fewer Amarrian targets those left were jammed even more heavily. Finally the Amarrian forces withdrew to a safe location to plan their next move.
While discussing the next manuever the Amarrian forces realized that the terrorists were calling in massive reinforcements. Local scanners began to fill up as the small group of 11 Amarrian captains left was quickly outnumbered 2 to 1. It was decided given the inability to combat EW the best manuever would be to retreat. A plan was made and the ships were successful in departing Choonka out from under the noses of the terrorists who were looking futiliy for the Amarrian fleet.
As the fleet travelled back to Amarr a casualty roster was taken. Lost on the Amarrian side were three Battleships, one Prophecy, two Arbitrators, one Punisher, two Maledictions (preliminary totals). Two ships were also lost to Concord guns as the misguided Captains of the Spacegates opened fire on the combatants. On the Minmatar side a Tempest, Typhoon, Cyclone, Vigilant, Rupture and a few other small vessels were among the confirmed kills.
Still as the fleet entered Amarr the spirits of the survivors was high. Four Battleships returned all scared with the stains of battle but glowing a brilliant gold under the scorched hulls. Financially the battle was a near draw. The destroyed ships were already being replaced by the slaves of Archbishops production facilities. Medals were in order for those who participated and a celebration of the return of the Golden Fleet was in the planning.
Still those who fell were not forgotten. While all survived in the clone vats of the Empire recognition would be paid with respect to those who did not return alive with the fleet.
In the coming days the Golden Fleet will return again. The days of Amarr are not passed as the Minmatar would have you believe. Our empire is far from "falling" as they suggest. Our rest is over, the day of Amarr is at hand, the masters of the barbarians are coming for those in need of enlightenment. Pray you do not stand in our way.
