If you haven't read it, do...
Yeah I read it a long time ago.
Haven't been able to verify it, not all of the details match the reality.
Even if it is 100% fictitious, it's an awesome read.
I've read this a couple times and each time I grow more convinced its authentic. I heard of some BS scams early on...... this could be one of them.
Either way even if its fake as Maj says its a great read.
Maller with missile turrets?
Moa with lasers?
Cargo expanders that take up cap?
No mods, just prefitted ships?
Inviting to a corp, just like to a gang?
No proper channels in EVE?
Sucking the cap when someone is in struct makes them unable to warp out?
Missiles destroying the pod after the ship is destroyed? (splash damage?)
Being in struct makes your ship slower?
Was EVE like this back in 2003?
Rockets in the ships while you could fit whatever kind of missile you wanted in the launcher?
Selling the mins to the NPCs?
Either these guys were utter morons back in the day or the whole game was utterly differend.
Or this whole thing is bullshit.
Some of the things you mentioned Lallara were indeed so, splash damage for one. Launchers could use any type of missile.
Sucking cap does still today make you unable to warp.
Maller with missiles... don't think that existed (until Sacrilege).
Moa with lasers, yeah, lasers were #1.
That story is why I joined EVE. Though it was a lot different when I joined (late 2004) then when that was written (late 2003 at the earliest I think). I still think its a better piece of advertising and shows the possibilities of EVE better then anything CCP have ever done.
Personally I think the guy who wrote that was an utter moron.
I wouldn't consider a guy like that even worth spitting on.
All his views were very biased and shows that at any point of playing EVE he bothered to try out all the aspects of it. He totally forgot to mention mission running, clearly he thought that some guys who produced stuff are cool but most are just ass sucking idiots.
He tried PvP twice, the rich kids way. Buy the most expensive piece of crap and attack the enemy head on. Then lose interest because the God Mode Cheat was not on.
The whole story showed that this guy really does not want to work for anything.
Yes, the scamming aspect has its covert ops, James Bondsy kind of attraction to it, but the extent this guy went to do this was totally utterly ridiculous. Mixing RL communication and scamming into it is basically just cruel. What happened to HardHead, sheesh. Similar kinds of feelings were felt by the UQS guys after the incident.
Fantasizing about stuff happening around him after having iskies? Feeling betrayed that he couldnt fantasize the same stuff after giving part of the loot ONLY AFTER visualizing getting his ass handed back to him IRL.
Basically this guy was/is totally sick.
Thank God all people that have any kind of tendencies that this guy has are not in my circle of people I will voluntary associate with. It would just make me so mad to have a juvenile like this running around in my personal space. I wonder how this kind of person survives without getting killed.
I think i have a few answers for Lallara. Cargo mods never took up cap back then, but back when there were 1-size-fits-all mwds along with multi-mwd's, it was easy to get haulers up to inty speeds even when packing all your low slots with cargo expanders.
I read this story back when i was still doing the 14 day trial, it was a very interesting read and made me think of the possibilities eve had. The game seemed so much bigger back then though.
I remember selling minerals to NPC's right after beta.
this thread makes me feel old
That was a good read, obviously the guy needs a good kicking but that goes without saying.
I think the last bit was a lie, about him giving it all to a noob mainly because he mentions the RL cash equivelent of the money he had scammed. If hes really the morally corrupt bastard he makes out then I think it more likly he e-bay'd the isk and added that last bit to prevent ppl giving him a good kicking
Top story, also one of the reasons I kept playing EVE. Who care’s if it’s fiction or not.
Think I’ll read it again….. awwwe I feel dead sorry for HardHead.
/me hugs hardhead

same here. would u believe i havent read it yet? but i have had it for almost 2 years in my bookmarks
Good read... I agree with Skarr about the last bit being a lie. God know what he did do with the money, but I'd imagine he made that last bit up for effect.
