Siobhan couldn't sleep.
Her restless brain wouldn't let her as it flitted over the events of the tumultous week.
PIE and the CVA had been in frontline action almost constantly.
The infamous pirate corp m0o had announced their hostility to the CVA with a firestorm of death which had caught the alliance with its pants down. Eight PIE losses in the first two days had been a definite blow to corporation resources.
But in typical Amarrian style they had brought the fight to their enemy. Siobhan recalled the exultation at being part of a CVA fleet which jumped into a m0o gate camp killing three of their battleships and forcing the others to flee with no losses to the Amarrians.
The struggle with m0o continued. The pirates deserved their fearsome reputation. Siobhan knew that the CVA would need fortitude and patience in the weeks ahead.
But m0o was not the only thing on Siobhan's mind. Another pirate band had decided to make Kheram their home. Sdly were plaguing the Amarr spacelanes and it was up to the CVA to squash them. Many battles large and small had been fought. Sdly were a smart, battle hardened foe and losses had been tit for tat.
She remembered jumping into Kheram landing on top of a S******dly Armageddon. The rush of adrenaline as she locked the ship and unleashed drones. The joy as she stripped its shields and then the panic as she realised the pirate ship had been set for maximum damage and her repairers couldn't keep up. Finally the exhultation as her guns landed the killing blow just before her armour surrendered.
She remembered the pride in her crew which had made the victory possible and then the horror when the very same crew died in a S******dly gate camp later that very same day. Siobhan managed to avoid being podded by the pirates but PIE's CEO Light Kominski had not been so fortunate.
Undaunted the CVA had gathered a fleet and chased the pirates away only for them to return when the CVA focused on other enemies.
As if they didnt have enough to deal with the Minmatar terrorists had taken advantage of the CVA's war against pirates to mount raids into Amarr space - murdering and killing innocents in their so-called freedom fighing cause.
The CVA had decided to give the terrorists a taste of their own medicine on Sunday. A small fleet of four battleships and six supporting ships would raid Minmatar space and hunt down unwary terrorists.
Immdiately it ran into enemies. GFS, a new member of the Ushra'Khan alliance were up to no good in Hedion. The CVA fleet jumped into Hedion and engaged the terrorists. Unfortunately, the CVA's scrambling frigates had not yet joined the fleet. Siobhan watched two terrorist battleships take a massive pounding under CVA guns - but both escaped badly battered. Siobhan hoped the Minmatar's escape was not a bad omen for the evening.
Siobhan led the fleet on a quick tour of known Minmatar hotspots. They were in enemy territory and they knew that the Minmatars in the Ushra'Khan were better organised than at any time in the past.
Despite this the ten Amarr ships succeeded in locating and destroying six terrorists during its patrol. Satisfied with this Siobhan decided to lead the Amarrians back to safe space before the Minmatars could close their trap.
The Amarrians managed to stay one step ahead until Lustrevik. There the ten Amarrians were faced with a Minmatar force of 34. Time to leave.
Siobhan led the fleet into Yulai when disaster struck. Several of the Amarrian fleet bounced out of range of the gate and had to warp out and back to the gate at 15km, including Gracchus in a slow Apocalypse. Meanwhile the Minmatars were jumping into the system.
The Amarr would not leave until all their ships were at the gate but before that happened the massed Minmatars warped in. Siobhan gave orders not to engage and the Amarrians waited as their straggling colleagues approached the gate.
Siobhan's tactical overview was full. Red everywhere. She made a silent prayer to the Emperor. The Minmatars opened fire. Amarrian shields were taking damage everywhere. Then Gracchus confirmed he had reached the gate. Siobhan gave the order to jump.
Miraculously the fleet got through without a loss and managed to make good its escape (apart from one ship which suffered a systems failure which upon recovery warped him straight into the middle of the terrorists)
The Minmatars persued the remaining Amarrians down to Providence but left shortly afterwards. Siobhan knew they remained to be dealt with but now was not the time..
For S******dly were once again plaguing Kheram.
Despite her weariness Siobhan and five other PIE pilots gathered once again. They suceeded in catching and destroying two pirate ships, including yet another Armageddon. But more arrived. In the end eleven pirates faced the six Amarrians.
Worn out by a day of fighting the PIE pilots decided to call it a night.
Docked in Kheram Siobhan still couldn't sleep. The thought of her enemies flying around outside inflicting murder and suffering on innocents tormented her.
Finally, the words Admiral Golan Trevize came to her:
"We shall fight them at the asteroids, we shall fight them at the moons and we shall fight them at the stations. We shall never give up. Amarr expects!"
Heartened by this thought Siobhan finally surrendered - to her sleep...
