Last night's engagement
Done a battlereport about our minnie-battle (excuse the pun) in Amarr last night. It could have gone either way. In fact I think if Maggot had showed up at the gate in the first fight with the 5 cruisers I think we could have been down two battleships - as it happened we ended up one  ...

23 September 2004
Siobhan woke with a start. The penetrating sound of her emergency alarm forcing her to wakefulness.
She clicked on the light and opened communications.
Vice-Admiral Caya appeared on the holoscreen.
"We have 7 hostiles in Amarr including at least one confirmed battleship. Trying to confirm location, do not undock until I give the word. Adding you to gang now"
"Stretched. I am in an Arbitrator, Flotwell of Amarria Auxillia is in a Kestrel and Ethidium is out there somewhere in an Apocalypse. We have other support closing but they are a few jumps out."
Siobhan ran for her pod.
These days she slept on her ship more often than in her comfortable in-station quarters. The increasing frequency of Minmatar terrorist raids meant that haste was often needed. She slipped into the pod and the ship came alive. Her technical staff ensure the ship was spaceworthy and ready to fight 24 hours a day seven days a week.
Suddenly Ethidium Bromide appeared. "I am under attack at Ashab gate - five minmatar cruisers at least two of which are Blackbirds. They have me jammed and scrambled. Need help now!"
"Okay let's go" ordered Caya.
Siobhan gave the undock command. The Apocalypse seemed to take an age to exit the station and align for the Ashab gate. "I hope Ethi's armour can hold" thought Siobhan, as her Apoc finally entered warp.
As the ship came out of warp Siobhan scanned the horizon, ticking off the enemies in her mind.
Al Haquis - Masuat'aa Matari
Monkeal - Vronsky Brothers
Stormforce - Amarr Will Eat Itself
Lord Stone - Freelance Unicorporated
Caldicott - Masuat'aa Matari
"We need to get the Blackbirds out of this fight quickly" Caya relayed and Siobhan responded.
She knew that her ship, set up for fleet engagements, was vulnerable to jamming so she had to move quickly before the Minmatar jammers switched targets.
She locked the cruisers and prayed that she would get there first and God, for once, was listening!
The Apocalypse's formidable arsenal was unleashed and two of the Minmatar Blackbirds were swiftly blown out of existence. Siobhan switched targets and two more of the Minmatar cruisers took heavy damage and wisely chose to warp out.
The four loyalists held the gate but three Minmatar cruisers were still loose in they system, as was the phantom Raven, which had not yet been located.
"Thank God it didn't turn up at the gate a few minutes ago" thought Siobhan, "or Ethidium would have been toast"
Ethidium's smiling face came on the holoscreen. "Thanks for the help chaps - really appreciate it, but I have urgent station business that I need to attend to. Going to dock. Should be safe now."
The remaining Amarrian ships at the gate relaxed while waiting for reinforcement. They knew that Ciar Meara, flying an Armageddon, and Alexander Rahl, flying a Scorpion, were just a few minutes away.
The holoscreen crackled. It was Ethidum Bromide. "The Minmatars are at Emperor Station and the Raven is with them. Jammed and scrambled...taking severe damage, need help now."
Siobhan immediately engaged warp and gave the order for Ciar and Alex to head straight for Emperor when they got into the system.
Suddenly the gang dropped to 3 members. Caya's ship had suffered a total systems failure. Ethi's rescue fleet now consisted of just an Siobhan's Apocalypse and a Kestrel. "I hope Alex and Ciar get here fast."
As the Apoc popped out of warp her viewscreen was filled with the impressive sight of Maggot's Raven bombarding the helpless Ethidium with support from Caldicott, Al Haquis & Stormforce in cruisers and Zoolhan flying a frigate.
Flotwell dived to engage while Siobhan targeted the notorious Maggot with everything she had, even sending her fleet of medium drones into the maelstrom.
Her guns tore chunks out of the Minmatar armour but he continued to focus on Ethi's battleship. "Why doesn't he break off?" she thought
"50% structure and falling" exclaimed the fraught Ethidium, as his jammed Apoc suffered yet another barrage of missiles from the Raven. Clearly Maggot was gambling on downing the stricken Apocalypse before making his own escape.
Suddenly the Minmatar's fire stopped. Alexander Rahl had arrived in the nick of time. The Raven was jammed and now suffering itself. Siobhan held her breath as another salvo lanced out from her bank of eight lasers.
The explosion was blinding. The terrorist's battleship temporarily forming a new star.
Siobhan turned her attention to the cruisers but without their battleship support they were already warping out of the engagement.
A final explosion marked Flotwell's successful termination of Zoolkhan's rifter.
Siobhan checked the time. Less than 10 minutes had passed since she had woken.
"I think its going to be a good day" she exclaimed to her gangmates.
Obviously the hero of the moment was Flotwell
