References for background and conflict
Anyone else draw a lot of reference in the sci-fi context from the Romulan-Klingon conflict?
I also draw from any conflict where a traditonal ways were being oppressed by the majority, such as the American - Indian wars, the Samaurai vs imperial state etc beingthe most popular to older conflcits such as the roman empire vs germanic tribes.
Most of the futuristic references source from the Roman Empire anyway or the egyptians as another example.
Thats part of the story i gues, conflicts and ideals we are familar with.
The Romulan-Klingon conflict?
I mean, it happened, but wasn't very documented....or understood...
Heh Im pulling almost everything from the later parts of the Roman empire. But then I base most everything i RP on the Eastern Roman Empire... so thats no surprise. I also add some ideals that come from the parthian system, things like slavery as a path to enlightenment. For the way I see Amarran slavery working is that anyone can be a slave... Amarrans and Ni'kunnis are just assumed to already be enlightened. That is most definitely a very persian concept.
So Justinian Era Byzantine traditionalism and religion mixed with a few fun ideals from mesopotamia... its such a lovely combination.
